Appearance: Natalia has the grace and the appearance that befits nobility. As a princess, she is always finely groomed and well taken care of. People can tell right off the bat that she is of some sort of noble blood. Also, she is said to be quite beautiful and attracts the attention of many men, even if she only has eyes for one person.

Natalia is not exactly a big girl; she stands at five feet, six inches and weighs only about one hundred and seventeen pounds. But her small frame should not be taken lightly; she is strong, as she has mastered Lanvaldear style archery, so most of her strength lies in her arms and hands. She is also a skilled healer, so her face and demeanor are often gentle.

She also has golden hair, fair skin, and soft blue eyes. When she is not dressed in more princess like attire, such as gowns, and dresses, she is usually seen in a white and green outfit, with black tights, a few ruffles, puffy sleeves, a scarf, and high white and black boots. Natalia seems to like colors that fit into the green, teal, or blue category.

Personality: At first Natalia may appear to be an arrogant princess; she can be rather haughty and tends to look down on the other characters when they first meet. She is also demanding, and almost seems to think that that she can order everyone else in the group around, even after she asks them not to treat her like a princess. However, she soon realizes that as a part of the group, she must not only think of herself, but of the others she accompanies as well, and she tones down her attitude.

When she arrives at Akzeriuth, we really get to see what sort of person Natalia is underneath the pampered princess we had glimpsed before. Natalia is actually quite caring and kind, rushing to the aid of the sick and getting mad at Luke when he refuses to help them. Natalia also shows fierce loyalty to her country, acting on behalf of the citizens at any given moment. She takes great pride in doing things that benefit the people of Kimlasca, and is often trying to find a solution to aid her people.

Her cheerful nature is also something that makes Natalia, well, Natalia. She is the medium between Anise and Tear, where Anise is the super energetic, and Tear is the super reserved, Natalia is in the middle. She can be silly and a bit ditzy at times, and even a bit gullible… which puts a smile on her companion’s faces most of the time. But she can also stand up and be very serious, taking charge at crunch time when her royal bearing causes her to step up.

In the end, Natalia is a well balanced girl. She comes through as a good person, showing kindness to those in need, but also not being a complete pushover. She has weak moments, and shows a fragile side when she is hurt, but she always bounces back from it, finding strength and walking forward.

Natalia really is a princess at heart.

Abilities/Strengths: Our lovely princess is a skilled archer, having mastered Lanvaldear style archery. She is a great long range fighter, staying in the distance and firing arrows from afar. With her light body, she is also fairly quick. She is not nearly as fast as Guy, but she can outrun enemies and is probably lighter on her feet as a fighter than Luke would be. Natalia is also a very skilled healer. Her skill with the seventh fonon is remarkable, and her healing spells are of a great help to the party throughout the game.

Weaknesses: Natalia’s weaknesses come from her small body. Her defense is not as great as it could be, seeing as she does not wear the heavy armor that the male characters can equip. If she is caught in an enemy attack, then she will take more damage than one of the boys would. But this does not happen often, as she is usually long range.
Natalia’s other weakness is Asch. It is fairly obvious that she is still very in love with him, so she worries about him almost constantly. Her thoughts can wander if Asch is mentioned, and if he is any danger, she often loses her head. When Asch dies, at the end of the game, Natalia actually needs a good slap in the face from Jade to snap her out of her hysteria.

History: Natalia was not born the princess of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear. She was actually born to royal maid named Silvia and her husband Badaq, and they named her Meryl. Unfortunately, it was told in the newborn girl’s birth score that she would become the princess of Kimlasca. Thus, when the real princess Natalia was stillborn, Silvia’s mother gave her granddaughter to the queen, taking Meryl away from her real parents. Her name was changed, and she grew up oblivious to her real heritage.
Since the queen died while Natalia was still a young girl, she grew up with a close attachment to her father.

From the time she was young she was often caught playing with her cousin, Luke fon Fabre, who she was incredibly fond of. While they were young, Luke proposed to Natalia, and told her that together they would make their country into a beautiful and prosperous kingdom where nobody had to be poor. Natalia believed her cousin, and clung to the romantic idea from that day onward. When Natalia was eleven, Luke was kidnapped, and she became incredibly distraught. When the boy was brought back with complete amnesia, Natalia was disappointed that their promise was forgotten, but she still accepted him as her friend and hoped he would remember her one day.

The second time Luke vanished, Natalia was eighteen years old. Again she became incredibly concerned and asked Luke’s servant to tell her when he went searching for the young girl’s fiancé. She was not happy when Guy was not allowed to report to her. However, when Luke returns unharmed, she greets him in his home and tells him what has been going on in the kingdom during his absence. Despite Luke’s not so nice treatment of her, Natalia is cooperative, and agrees to help Luke when he asks her for the favor of finding out what happened to his teacher, Van Grants.

When Luke leaves on his trip to Akzeriuth, Natalia desperately wants to go along, but her father forbids her, telling her that it is not necessary for her to go on the mission. However, she decides to ask Luke to take her anyway, and ends up overhearing a private conversation between Luke and Van where Luke agrees to flee with Van to Daath. With this information, Natalia sneaks from the castle and finds Luke’s group, then proceeds to blackmail Luke into taking her along.

After Akzeriuth’s fall, Natalia, like the rest of the group, loses her trust in Luke, and proceeds to follow Asch the Bloody, who is in fact the real Luke fon Fabre. When Guy leaves, Natalia, Anise, Jade, and Ion continue to follow Asch to Ortion Cavern. Shortly after the adventure in the cave, however, Natalia and Ion are kidnapped and it is up to Luke, Tear, and the rest to save them.

After the rescue, Natalia is in for a long journey with her companions as they try to stop Van from carrying out his plans to destroy the original world. The adventure includes a lot of traveling, what with Sephiroth hopping, trying to stop the core from vibrating so the miasma mud in the Qulipoth will solidify, and constantly having to go back and forth between towns. Throw in the God Generals constantly meddling and it is one tough ride.

In the midst of all the traveling, Natalia does learn that she is not the true princess of Kimlasca. While in Chesadonia, after the war between Kimlasca and Malkuth has finally erupted, Mohs tells her the truth and Natalia is heartbroken. Her father rejects her as his daughter, and Natalia is arrested for impersonating the princess. She is then given poison so that she may kill herself, but Natalia refuses to do it. She escapes, but is still very upset over her father’s rejection and the fact that she is not the real princess. That is, until the people of Baticul prove to her that they don’t care about bloodlines, they only care about all the wonderful things Natalia has done for them so they still think of her as the princess. With the strength of her citizens behind her Natalia keeps going and leaves Baticul.

When they arrive in Belkend afterwards, it is revealed that Kimlasca used Natalia and Luke’s deaths at Akzeriuth to start the war. As heir to the Kimlascan throne, Natalia plays a vital role in the politics of Auldrant. The poison offered to her and Luke back in Baticul was a surefire way to make sure that they were really out of the way, so the war would continue.

Later on, Natalia uses the support of her people and her friend’s encouraging words to return to Baticul and see her father again. They talk, and eventually Ingobert sees his foolishness, once again accepting the eighteen years of memories he made with Natalia. He calls her his daughter once more, and Natalia feels truly home again. She endeavors to stop the war at this point, along with stopping Van’s plans.

After the victory against Van at the Absorption Gate and Outer Lands are safely lowered, Natalia continues to travel the country, acting as ambassador and keeping peaceful relations amongst the people. However, the peace does not last, and Natalia is called into battle once again alongside her friends. The next journey could be considered even more tiring than the last, as they learn that none of the God Generals or Van are actually dead, despite all of the fighting they did before. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the miasma returns to the land, causing severe unrest with the people. The Order of Lorelei proceeds to crumble as Ion dies, and even more chaos begins to rise.

Despite the pain and hardship, the group carries on. During this time Natalia also learns who her real father is, Badaq has now become Largo the Black Lion of the Six God Generals. Even though he is her dad, Natalia does not hesitate to shoot him in the back with an arrow when he threatens the lives of her friends. Natalia stands by the idea that people can change and that the original world does not need to be destroyed.

Just before the final fight with Sync the Tempest, Natalia learns that Asch has died at the hands of replica oracle soldiers. Completely devastated by the loss of her loved one, Natalia becomes hysterical and does not even notice the deadly fonic glyph beneath her. When she opens her eyes again, she is no longer on Eldrant, but in a church.
